The poems in Sugar for Shock reveal a generous confidence and gentle mystery. Their energy oscillates between reverberation and vision, so that in one moment a poem will mesmerize you with its melody, while in the next it will hypnotize you with a precise and profound image. This is a corpus that dares its reader to either close it or keep reading—whichever you choose, expect its words to call you back frequently and vehemently.
